Congrats Gary, on your fist place finish and to Lex, on her second place finish! You guy's missed the handing out of the awards. Lex missed receiving her auto-x certificate. You should contact the club and see if they can mail it. I have a long way to go in my class. There was a 7 sec. gap from my position and the leader. I still have a hard time believing my car is in the same class with a 2002 540i, 2002 330ic and several E30 325is. My car is fast, but a 540i?

I had a blast (no pun intended).

How does everyone's schedule look over the next few weeks. This

weekend is out for me - last weekend at Copper Mtn & Easter.

I've got lots of contacts from the little3 "Fest" we did in '01. What

are your thoughts.

What do you guys think? Sat. or Sun.? Awfully short notice.

Otherwise we're into May 17th or 18th; after that I pretty well out

of the picture. Vote and

I'll contact everyone else. Maybe the club wants to get involved.

We could even end up in Elizabeth and do the Sonic Bimmer Burger Night thing with the club.

Tim....what does "out of the picture" mean. Do you just have plans, or are you trading the '02 in for a Kia?

Martin....you could ride with me if you like gasoline smells.

I'm probably up for a drive on the 26th or 27th... my wife is

letting me keep her '72tii exercised this spring and summer! I

missed last weekend's autox but I'm doing the car control clinic

this Sat and hopefully the driving school (I'm on the wait list)

and the autox school at the end of May.

Anyway... I've been lurking and just wanted to get my email

address on the contact list for this or any other local stuff that

gets put together!

My wife will come along as well if she has time (grad school!)

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
