Guest Anonymous
now rotates freely in a 360 degree arc without performing its intended function. Does it sound like the entire unit needs replacing or could something have just come disconnected in the steering column?
Guest Anonymous
My guess is that the end that's in the steering column has split/cracked., I believe it's hard plastic and they do crack or split over many years of use; not sure if you can tell by simply taking the trim piece off under the column and taking a look inside that area, the steering wheel may have to come off, it happened on a 2002 I had in the late 1980's and I think we had to take the steering wheel off. Guest Anonymous
...you'll need to remove the steering wheel and steering column pads to get to the two screws that hold it to the steering column. Easy job - maybe 15 minutes. Marty '73 malaga
