Guest Anonymous
Does anyone know where the center of gravity of the BMW 2002 is?
Guest Anonymous
I can tell you that the CG of the bare shell is about even with the top of the cowl--more or less the top of where the hood would go. Adding the subframes, motor, driveshaft, exhaust, differential, etc., would lower it somewhat, maybe to the height of the middle of the engine block. As for front/rear, I don't know, though I know I've seen weight distribution measurements somewhere, and it's close to 50/50. You can figure out fore/aft and right/left by using scales, but the vertical measurement would require scales on a slope. Mike
Guest Anonymous
See if you can find a club racer near you. A lot of those guys would be willing to help you out. To get the CG height just jack up one end of the car while the other is on scales and apply some trig. The method can be found in Race & Rallycar Sourcebook (staniforth), Race Car Vehicle Dynamics (Milliken) and probably one of Carroll Smith's books
