Valve cover breather hose.

Recommended Posts

it depends on how much of a hippy you are. I run mine straight down so that oil and exhaust are expelled to the ground below. others route it to the carb. others use a filtered catch can. others use a non-filtered catch can. others have a filter right on the valve cover fitting and no hose at all. others have just an open hole.

The concept is that you recycle blow-by back into your intake system, rather than into the air. Yes, it is a bit messy. It certainly is true that the blow-by will ultimately come out of your exhaust pipe, but it will likely be combusted a bit more and therefore less polluting.

I believe that anyone who thinks we can't dump blow-by directly into our atmosphere without consequence to our environment is a Goddamn hippy, but perhaps not wrong.
