which connections are "solid" ?

brake light switch is right behind the booster,

single button switch hitting against the pedal linkage,

it willbe obvious when you see it , looking down from the

drivers side of the car.....

but clean your fuses and the metal clips

that hold the fuses first. disconnect the battery

before doing so!!

This presumes you've checked the pertinant fuse...

With the ign on and someone watching the brake lights, insert a thin screwdriver blade between the switch contact and the brake pedal linkage (see Creighton's diagram). Push the switch contact all the way in and let it snap out. Do that several times. If the brake lights now work, remove the switch and spray a little contact cleaner or WD 40 down into the switch around the contact plunger, and reinstall the switch, adjusting it so that it comes on (it's a normally on switch) soon as the brake pedal moves.

That usually cures the problem. If not, new switches are cheap and readily available

Do your wipers still work? The brake lights on my 74 were out when I bought the car. Fuse kept blowing. The wiper motor is on the same circuit and it had burnt out in the "open" position. Replaced the wiper motor, and voila! wipers and brake lights worked again!
