ahh. so stupid of me. but that's not the line that runs all though the car. right?

as i remember it, there is a clear/ semi-clear plastic hose that runs inside the car, so the rubber hose only connects to and from the k-fish, and to and from the fuel pump/tank.

or is the rubber line throughout the whole car?

sorry for the confusion.

Brian,

There is a blue plastic line that returns fuel from the Kugelfischer to the tank, it runs inside the car on the passenger side. Only use BMW specific tubing for this - the new line is black however. It runs from the firewall through the cabin on the passenger side back to the trunk by the tank. Then a small section of rubber hose connects the plastic line to a spout on the top of the tank

The feed tube from the tank to the Kugelfischer is a metal tube and runs underneath the car, there is small section or high pressure rubber line that connects the electric fuel pump to this hard/steel line. Also, there is a high pressure rubber line that connects this steel line to the fuel filter on the front clip. Then the same high pressure rubber line goes from the fuel filter to the Y fitting on the Kugelfischer

My left hand is almost touching the plastic return line

Exactly where I am going next - the high-pressure rubber tubing used to connect the metal line to the tank and the k-fish to the plastic blue return line - what is that size? 12x18?

Tii's use a metal line that runs a long side the left rocker panel from the rubber line that attaches it to the fuel pump and then the fuel filter.... the return line is plastic and runs inside the car... regular 2002s use these lines in reverse with the metal one being the return. You can source the plastic line from any '72 and later '02. The metal lines in '02s tend to rust out, so unless you get a particularly nice one from a rust free car......

The plastic line is # 16 12 1 105 870 and should still be available new.

The metal line is # 16 12 1 113 489 but does not appear to be available any longer, NLA.

ALSO... see the link in my first reply for the 12x18mm hose that feeds the electric fuel pump from the gas tank.... I searched for you. :b....

Also, also... the blue plastic line is the EVAP fuel vapor line in US cars and is 6mm, the white/semi transparent line is the 8mm return.....

Make sure you get the info in Tom's reference to an old post correct

It says

Bill, from the tank pickup to the inlet on the fuel pump: 12 x 18 mm = - old # 16.12.1.176.440

NEW # 16.12.1.469.787 ...... $14.20 per meter

all other gas hose(s) on the car are 8 x 13 mm =

old # 16.12.180.409

NEW # 13.31.1.469.781 ..... $9.70 per meter

this is high pressure stuff, not the same as 'generic'low pressure carb hose - but this hose is better to use for long life on a carb model

Guy's.

What i failed to mention was that the car's shell was a regular 2002. I just added the tii motor to it. So I dont have a lot of the lines real tii have.

I have 2 plastic lines from the trunk - one is blue (not too wide, i think that was a return/vent pipe), and one is clear/yellow tint (wide, was probably the fuel tube).

Which one can i use for the pump to k-fish and which one can i use for the return line? AND, what size rubber fittings do i need? still the 8mm (i.d) or 12mm (i.d.) - it cant be the same size, since i have 2 separate size lines.

fyi - I have a tii tank installed with bills e30 pump upgrade.

sorry for the confusion.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
