LSD Rebuild Kits....And how much to rebuild these things?

Recommended Posts

For the 2002/320 diffs, BMW does not have clutch parts.

Others have found them from the suppliers-

I hate to say 'do a search' but that's what I'd do.

And yes, bearings and seals (esp for the late 320)

run well over $100 in total

(more like $300 if you do the carrier bearings, which are 'usually' ok)

and if the clutches aren't perfect, that's more parts.

Now figure it takes several hours to do and check properly,

and you're over a grand.

The E30 bunch figures something over 1k per diff for theirs, and their

parts are still pretty readily available.

Sorry to say, 'good used' is still the economical alternative... so far...

A used E21 LSD with stock 25% lockup for a big-time price - clean and shiny, though description says bearings 'look good' which leaves one wondering if they were replaced (one would hope so for that price...)
