Got my rebuilt distributor back today

All I can say is WOW, it looked like a piece of art!!! Polished, new everything on it. I had them install the crane 700. My buddy Brad put it in for me. Car has NEVER run this smooth and strong. I have had the new IE distributor, pertronix, hot spark etc etc...nothing compares. I recommend him to anyone on FAQ if you want your distributor to function better than new.

I had them delete the vacuum advance(they put a plate over the opening also) and go full mechanical..but they can also rebuild your vacuum one. Recurve etc.

Here is the Link http://www.advanceddistributors.com/ click on the "Services" link for rebuild info.

Pics tomorrow when i get the car home

Yeah, you said it; I put in a new Bosch distributor in a 1974 Atlantik blue 2002 I had, 1980's, unit was only $110.00 new back then; what a difference. I had a mechanic at Mt. Read BMW/VW/Toyota put it in; he saw me for the 3rd time coming out of the parts dept within a few weeks and asked what I bought, I told him another tune up kit, I was going through points. He asked me if he could take a quick look at the distributor, then told me it needed replacing. He said to get a new one and he would put it in; he did this for a 6 pack of beer., incredible mechanic, Heinz was his name.

Tim.

Pertronix is only a points replacement device.

The Crane gives you an electronic ignition, it all depends on what you want.

I think those that have each are happy with them. I have seen no rush from one to the other but both are improvements over the stock points set up.

So what did they put in for an advance curve? Provided a curve? W/O the vacuum advance it most likely lost a lot of cruising load ignition advance (and some economy).

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
