TBBMW where are you. I live South of Atlanta in Newnan. I should be free Thursday and Friday night if you need a second set of hands.

Hey Man, I am in Fayetteville, just up the road from you! I sent you an email a few minutes ago.

Unfortunately, I will not be making it tomorrow. Family commitments trumps fun with buddies and 2002's.

You know, I was thinking as I stood in the garage and looked at my cars that we get older and the toys we play with just get bigger. I remember as a kid pulling out my box of hot wheel cars and arranging them on the floor. Now I have occasion to pull out my BMW's and arrange them in the driveway and think about alllll that I want to do with them in the way of repairs, modifications and upgrades!

TB,

It looks like I am going to be stuck at home too. The car is more than ready, I just couldn't seem to get everything else in my world together. I sent you an e-mail, if you ever need any help give me a shout. I am pretty well setup at home for most repairs, and am always down for lending a hand to local 02ers.

Zac give me a shout when you get a chance, I would like to try and put together a cars and coffee/spring drive for the club down here in Newnan. We could have a meet on the square and have a chance to gather for a bit, and there are some great roads in the area. We could probably even have a BBQ at my place if everybody was interested. I also wanted to see about possibly doing some tech sessions, or group techs where we can all get together somewhere and fidget with our cars.

Since I can't hang out with you guys today I plan to finish the tear down process on #1660013, and start assessing the metal issues. So at least I will still be up to my eye balls in 02's. Hope you guys have a great time.

Guys, make sure you keep me informed of your events on the soutwest side of town. My daughter lives in Fayetteville so I'm over there all of the time. I second jbird's comments on the roads in west Fayette and Cowetta counties. I used to bicycle all over that area and the roads are great.

Zac, thanks for arranging the drive. Glenn, make sure you send me that UPS number so I can get rid of, err, I mean send you a starter;-)

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
