Guest Anonymous
Well, my ASSA resonator just bit the dust and I dont think I want to live with the constant rumble (nor do my neighbors). What kind of options am I looking at for a replacement? The rear muffler looks to still be fine. Ive heard Supersprint is the bomb, but how expensive are they? How much for another rusty Assa? Any other options out there? Im considering just running a straight pipe in place of the resonator. Too loud? Any input appreciated. Guest Anonymous
and like it a lot. Nice tone for normal(?) driving and real nice tone when you put your foot in it. I think the muffler cost about $215 from performance products out of Glastonbury CT. Center exit twin chrome looks real good too.

I think you can get a resonator for about $79. If not, I hear supersprint is the better product.
Guest Anonymous
Thanks for the responses. I will see if I can find some kind of cool deal on Supersprint, otherwise, it sounds like an oem resonator could be the call.

Guest Anonymous
i run stahls to 2 glass packs to tip on 71. you can still carry on conversation in car with windows down. will pass laguna seca noise police 95 db @50 feet. used to run just pipe to 1 pac, that got attention. Run Borla/supersprint stahl combo on A4 w/ center 2 tip out. Quieter than my 71, still get nice feedback though. If i had your set up , i would just put a pac in line ( call it a resonator) and be done. should have good back pressure, and good flow combo. should be acceptable noise level. will be cheap. i also have 2 feet of flex metal after down pipe connection. it eliminates most of the twist in the exhaust from engine movement( yes, all mounts are correct and fresh, but there is always a bit of movement and resulting flex of exhaust system.) I have been really happy with the flex metal mesh graft. have not had to go to mufler shop for a weld in over 2 years ..... no cavities! ///
Guest Anonymous
I had my local muffler shop replace the resonator with a straight pipe. With an ANSA rear muffler, it isn't noisy
