Greetings from Bluefields....

Nicaragua, that is, not West Virginia.

Down here for a few days--the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua, reached by a 5 hour bus ride from Managua, then 2.5 hr boat ride down the Rio Escondito. More like a Caribbean island than a Central American country.

No road connects Bluefields with the rest of Nicaragua; most vehicles here are tiny taxis and trucks. No BMWs observed; however I did see th BMW dealership in Managua, and also saw a new X6 and 6 series convertible on the street--both over $100k here.

More later.

cheers from Nicaragua

for a week, and then part of our team went over to the Caribbean coast for a few days of R&R (rest and relaxation for you non-military types).

Quite an interesting place, Nicaragua, where the roads have everything from X6s to carts drawn by two oxen. Still a few Ladas and GAZ trucks from the Sandinista-USSR days, but mostly Japanese and some Chinese vehicles now. Very few US.

Saw a '59 Galaxie and an early-mid 50s's Jeep station wagon--the two oldest vehicles I've seen there. No 2002s this year, but have seen a couple in the past.

cheers

mike
