Hey everyone. I appreciate all the helpful input that this forum provides. I am wondering what my next step is to do with my automatic 1976 02.

So, I have decided to go with the M20 from a 325i. Now, my question is, do I need any fabrication done to make this motor fit? Do I pair the same 325i 5 speed transmission to it? I am doing the auto to manual 5 speed conversion with this, and doing a search I found that a green '71 was able to fit a 325i transmission with no fabrication

So with this car, am I able to do the same thing? I want to do as little fabrication as possible. Since my car is an automatic, will putting in a 5 speed have an easier fit?

Now for the electricals. Would it be easier to get a donor car and use the electricals off of that with the ECU from the 325i?

Sorry I'm a newb at all this rebuilding of a project car, and I still am continuing to perform searches all over this website.

Any help and input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
