Dual 40s question

So tomorrow I hopefully will receive my 40's from Germany. I will need to get airfilters and want some advice/guidance on what is a good setup and not going to break the bank, yet keeping the crap out of the carbs.

Any suggestions?

You mean because it might hit the hood or be to far over by the brake cylinder?

just to make sure the air horns don't get covered/closed by the filter lid. I think the one I linked has ample height/space.

It's all a tight fit. Do you have the stock brake booster or a Tii? Tii allows for more space.

That is what I was afraid of with a thicker filter. I saw the lynx ramflow, but they are big bucks from australia and I think the wife might not go for those.

Thought my 02 will be for racing purposes only, I run filter socks over each horn; we are running dual 44mm Mikuni side draft carbs with approximately 50mm air horns.

They aren't as effective for filtering tiny particulate matter, but, they keep sand, pebbles, and small children out of the carbs. I think you can get 2/$15 from some suppliers, can't remember where I got mine from.

They require of course that you are running air horns (velocity stacks) so they have something to "hold on" to. They can also be treated with K&N filter oil to catch more dust, but require cleaning.

The advantage being they are soft and fit where a hard filter won't and provide relatively clear airways. Disadvantage being they don't filter as well, but in a race application, it's not as much of a concern.
