Hi everyone. I'm living in Italy not in Switzerland. Please Lee , don't send me the oil pan next week As I wrote you last year in French. I decided to buy some of your products. Read my last private mail.

From now, my project is going to start. My 2002tii will have to breathe with a new S14 250CV 8000rpm.

@Julio - Yes I can send both pans at the same address. You will save a bit, but not that much. Also, the insurance caps at $1000.00 per shipment (two pans)... If the package gets lost or damaged (which it won't), I can give you a refund for $1000.00, and you'll buy pans back for $850 each (if there's any left)... ;-(

Glad the pans have found a new home. Tomorrow I will start giving a few hints as for cutting up the upper pan, and fitting the vertical baffles which require a little filing at the front to slide in easily. Not much is needed. get your file out of the tool box!!!

Rey. Your rubber flaps will be mailed directly from the US. They are coming in a few days.

Actually the process is quite simple.

a. mark on the upper pan where you want to cut the outer section. Most likely as close to the pod where the oil breather fitting is.

b. fit with a couple of boltts th lower pan to the upper pan so that the ends meet. Make sure some bolts are used on this end section.

c. notice where the line that you previously draw on the upper pan lines up on the lower pan. Mark on the lower pan where they coincide.

d. unbolt the assembly, and bolt again with the passenger side section aligning.

e. the second line your sribed on the lower pan, continue it on the upper pan.

f. now you have the section that must be removed.

g. better remove less than too much. spend extra time adjusting.

h. bolts the two-piece upper pan onto the lower pan. Their should be no visual gap to proper weld. Tack in a few spots

i. You can undo the assembly and clamp on a perfectly flat thick steel plate. Finish the welding. let cool down to avoid warping.

As for the vertical baffle, you should make the front knee on each baffle a bit rounder. So that it slides easily in. Before bolting the baffles in place (with Loctite) fit the rubber flaps with some oil to help insertion. I tried fittingthe flaps on a stock BMW baffle and they are very difficult. Perhaps the flaps might even need to be softened by droppin them in hot water.

Once the front corner is filed, then insert the baffle, rear first, then lower the front into position. The seal is very nice, and much better than BMW's own baffle.

Hi Lee

Could you manage to use also the metric system for the Old Continent people. The fact, that the Treaty of the Meter was signed in 1875 by USA , the Canada has adopted the metric system in the 1970s, and The Bavarian Motors Workers , like me are not trainned to use any more the imperial measurements.

Lee,

do you have any pics of a cut pan and how you accomodated the uneven welding of the parts back together? with the void next to the oil return and the 'hump' on the other side of the cuts, looks like there is some filling needed.

hard to see in the pics of the older one further up the thread. also looks like you cut that one much further over, deleting the oil return hole.

I currently have no time to prepare a pan and take pictures. I suggest you guys visualize what's need to be done. Sure there will be a step. Just weld it. I will leave to everyone's ingenuity.

I may post pictures of my cut up pan during the summer if time allows.

Maybe you can look here too. BTW I never intended to keep the oil separator as I run a DTM airbox. But it can be kept if you prefer.
