Rebuilding the 5 speed?

OK, so I have my 5 speed in. PO told me is was quite as could be. Well it is as long as you don't decelerate or coast. When you get noise on decel it is the rear bearing I am told. plus this tranny leaks at both the rear seal and the shifter rod seal.

So my question is roughly what does it run to get one of these rebuilt. I am very hesitant to pull out a used noisy tranny just to install another used noisy tranny

several years ago when my e21 5 speed took a crap, the lowest quote i found was approx $1200.00....but that was here and then
