Anyone ever used a dash cover - not the fuzzy ones ?

Recommended Posts

I inherited one from the PO on my '72 Colorado. I have mixed feelings. Frankly I've never taken a peek under it (PO never bothered to glue it down) to see the state of my dash -- too many other things to address first.

Not glued down, my passenger side bottom edge interfers with the glove box opening. And, I'm not sure it would fit without some trimming. Of course, I have no idea what the brand is on mine. Regardless of brand, you will always be able to notice that the glove box doesn't have a cover on it and it will look recessed.

I have mixed feelings over all. It's definitely better than real crap. But maybe that's because I'm conditioned to see 02's with cracked dashes.....all except the 3 that run in the local vintage races...they have primo dashes ...go figure.

http://www.topsonline.com/ is cheaper and faster...i've used them in a couple of my cars...

have you ever seen dash covers made of thin carpet?..or even a suede like material?....Its mote popular in older Porsche 917 race cars.....even old 911 race cars. Would you consider an alcantara or thin carpet dash cover to make?...w/ some thin bound edges?...I can show you some pics or even make some drawings....just to cover top of dash. This style would mimmick a racer or hot rod of the period.
