I was there today with my wife. Car is an automatic Fjord with a sunroof. All body panels and glass were in excellent condition. I saw no rust on the car. Beltline trim was complete and in very good shape. Car was missing the front grill, tail lights, driver mirror, rear shocks, calipers and driver door mirror.

My wife was asking why this car was junked as it is WAAAAAY nicer than my 2002. She was asking me if I could buy it for her!

This is the Sun Vally pick your part on Penrose Ave, near Burbank.

This weekend everything is half off! Go strip it bare!!

How were the doors and trunk? I need those on my car...was thinking of fixing mine, but if they are good and also Fjord, all the better!

Trunk and doors were in great shape. I was shocked by how straight the car was.

I still cant believe a car this nice was at the junkyard.

how far are you from that place? any chance you can pick that up for me? thanks.

Armond, there were a few people hovering around the car so I doubt all the trim is still there. I was talking to a couple of guys about the trim and they were telling me they cant believe how expensive it is now. Nearly all the 2002s I see at this boneyard have the beltline trim removed first.

There is also a guy here in North Hollywood called Ano Bright. He does a lot of anodizing for the car clubs. His big bumpers used to be $100 each, not sure what they are now. He did my grills and aluminum trim. The more you give him the more cost effective it is.

WOW! I'm just impressed that you got your wife to tag along!

My wife won't even hang out in the garage with me....let alone the bedroom!

LOL!!

I took my wife to the junkyard last year to grab some parts. I grabbed the inline fuel pump from an '85 318i for my F.I. project, then realized I couldn't afford it. My wife asked me to take off one of my socks. She then wrapped the fuel pump in it and put it in her bra and we snuck out with it.

My wife is awesome.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
