Removing Ignition Lock Assembly

Recommended Posts

1. Remove underdash panel, then the lower steering column surround to expose the lock assembly.

2. Disconnect battery, then undo the two small screws on the back side of the ignition switch (the bakelite part with wires attached)

3. Look for a small roll pin towards the back of the lock cylinder housing; drill this pin out--CAREFULLY!. If you're lucky and use the right size bit, the bit will jam on the pin, start the pin spinning and you can pull it right out with the bit. Othewise, drill it out; the lock cylinder will then come out. When you replace it, use a small sheet metal screw to hold the new lock cylinder in place.

cheers
