need help with seat rail brackets in the Bay Area

Recommended Posts

Hi folks. I'm trying to install some newer seats in my Bavaria (they mount very similarly to the 02 ones) and I need help from someone who actually knows how to cut or maybe even weld metal : )

Basically there's a factory-built "shelf" that the rails mount to and I need it to be inch or so longer so that my new seat's rails have a place to bolt in to on the back. The front mates right up though.

Basically I'm looking to make a small extension for the rail but I'd like it to be really solid, either by welding it to the existing 'shelf' or by making it sandwich on or something of that sort. Alternatively, if you have a better design in mind once you see it in person, let's go with that.

I'm over in Berkeley but I can drive the car (and new seats) over and I'll be happy to pay you to help me. Please let me know if you can help, or if you know of a shop that would be willing to work with me. Thanks!

i'd look at it from a crafty point of view...drill a hole on a piece of angle iron, attach it to the rear seat frame mounting hole then drill another hole in the angle iron for the rear seat mounting hole...use a nut, lock washer and bolt and call it a day
