From BMW..... They're the only place I've found so far that have all the correct wire and colors. Mercedes Porsche and Volkswagen also use very similar wire but the color combinations may be different.

Now, this is only the 2002 wire page. If you look up other models you'll find many more colors and diameters.

Single components such as connectors, covers etc. are in there as well.

stop in any BMW dealer and ask if you can pick-n-cut

a few wires from the dead wiring harnesses they have in the back room

we have a huge box with many complete harness replacements

with miles of any color, any gauge wire you could want.

Techs use it weekly to make repairs with correct color

coding, and hard to find/timely ordering connectors

go to any import car junque yard and just hack into any

swede/kraut car harness

  • 1 year later...
This may help as you go along:

.5mm = 20 AWG

.75MM = 18 AWG

1.0MM = 16 AWG

1.5MM = 14 AWG

2.5MM = 12 AWG

4MM = 10 AWG

Bob Napier

All.

Sorry to resurrect the thread. Are the above in mm2 or just mm? I looked up a conversion table on the internet and found both. But when I look at the wiring diagrams for our cars, I see .75 or 1.75 or etc... and the key is (mm2).

http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/awg-wire-gauge-d_731.html

Since i cant get the exact match (no .75mm2 gauge), should i buy a size larger or smaller AWG wire?
