Warm Start Problem Apparently Solved (long)

Earlier this week I posed the issue on this board of whether the combination of the ballast resistor (BR) and Pertonix ignition generated too much combined resistance and prevented quick warm re-starting:

As a result of the posted responses and a phone conversation with Scott Sislane, we hypothesized that because the Bosch blue coil that I had in the car also had a resistor, that the blue coil resistor combined with the BR may have been preventing getting a good hot spark for warm re-starts.

With the help of Steve Petersen (BLUNT), I was able to get a non-resistor black coil overnight, which I immediately installed. I then took the car out for a 30 minute warm up cruise, and attempted re-starts at 10 to 60 minutes intervals, with 3 minutes of engine running between each re-start cycle.

BINGO, warm start issue (approx. 20-30 seconds of starter turnover before the engine weakly started) apparently resolved. Car started nearly instantly on each attempt. Hallelujah, long term, annoying problem apparently solved. Subsequently, two days of local driving also always resulted in instant re-starts. Thanks FAQ contributors. Joy returned to '02-ville.
