Pics of racing seat installation????

So the last seats I had in my o2 were Mk 1 GTI seats. I had cut all the original mounts off and welded on brackets to use the stock sliders.

They were always too high. They worked but too high.

I just bought some used Sparco Fighters. They are like the Evo but bottom mount only. They came with sliders mounted on a 3/4 inch spacer. Just throwing one in the car shows me it's very difficult to get centered with the pedals and the steering wheel. Once centered, the front bottom corner touches the tranny tunnel. I could radious the corner of the seat a little as it has removable covers. I'll have to make a complete mount for the outside mount/slider as it's not over the outer seat mount. Seats also still feel a little too high. I'll be tossing the spacer and making them recline a little on their mounts.

Do I, or should I just cut out the original seat mount and start from scratch and bolting the mount to the floor?

Who has pictures?

Thanks in advance.

John

Hi John,

I wound up cutting my stock seat mounts off and welding in (2) 2.5" x 3/4" rectangle tubing perpendicular to the stock mounts and lower by ~ 1.5". Then I mounted a Momo racing seat on standard aluminum racing mounts with Recaro dual sliders. Can post a few pics if you'd like, I'm sure you could make it all look much nicer than I did.

How's the rest of it coming along?

Cheers,
