I'm wondering if this Jetta was previously owned by a FAQ'R

I've never been interested in the "really rusty" VW look - this Type II was for sale

The owner of this Notchback said the roof had 21 coats of metallic paint. The bottom color is from an Audi A3. He was using a VW/Audi touch-up pen when I stopped by

I guess these lights are being used as his bumper guard guards.

WHAT YEAR CAR WAS THE ONE WITH THE GEAR & FLAGS HUBCAP ?

THE CAP IS A VERY EARLY DESIGN AND I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS NO

BLINKER ON THE FENDER SO THAT SAYS PRE-1955 TO ME .

WAS IT A SPLIT WINDOW CAR OR AN OVAL ?

SOMETIMES THESE THINGS COME ALONG AS AN ODD MIXTURE OF PARTS .

I SAW A KARMANN GHIAS WHEN I WAS ION BRAZIL THAT HAD MIS-MATCHED

LIGHTS BUMPERS , DASH AND DOOR HANDLES .

THEY SAID IT WAS BUILT THAT WAY . THE HOOD EMBLEM SAID VW-SAO PAULO !

APPARENTLY THEY DID BUILD SOME FROM LEFT OVER GERMAN PARTS .

THEY ALSO MADE THE K-GHIA TC FASTBACK THAT WAS UNIQUE TO THEIR COUNTRY .

http://www.karmannghiaconnection.com/brazilian.html

NONE OF THE NORMAL RULES TO DATE VW's SEEM TO APPLY THERE .

THEY MADE SPLIT WINDSHIELD BUSSES UP UNTIL 1974 AND STILL BUILD

BAY WINDOW BUSSES ( THE NEW ONES ARE WATER COOLED )

I SAW A BAY BUS WITH THREE HINGED DOORS ON EACH SIDE . THEY WERE BUILT FOR USE AS A TAXI .

SOME OF THAT ODDBALL SOUTH AMERICAN STUFF WOULD REALLY FREAK SOME PEOPLE OUT AT A BUG IN .

THANKS FOR POSTING THE PICTURES !

IT'S ALMOST LIKE BEING THERE .

According to some of my books, the Wolfsburg Crest Hood emblem (above the grab handle) was used between 1951 to 1962 Model year Beetles. Note the round overrider holes in the front apron. These bumpers were used from 1955-1967.

I've never seen those hubcaps before. I believe those are "flying swastica" emblems. Here is one I found on another website.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
