went for a little drive today.  car is a bunch quieter...well the engine noise is.   now i can hear about a dozen rattles and bangs elsewhere that were previously drowned out by the engine.....oh well, more winter projects chasing noises!

obligatory fall pics by the Potomac River..

Hi Marshall,

The local Audi Club chapter that I track with most of the time STRONGLY encourages towhooks front and rear, so the 2002 has been staying at home. I plan to copy your rear solution in the center bumper shock hole, but haven’t figured out the front yet.

Do you have any detailed photos of how your front tow hook is mounted? I can just make one out over the d/s bumper bracket. Probably as simple as a bolt through the bracket, but curious anyhow.

I’m pretty sure my intercooler is in the way of the factory 2002 Turbo solution, so I’m looking for alternatives.

Thanks!

yes, simple solution Brent.  i have one bolted to bumper support on both left and right sides.  the eyes are actually shock bolt  mount tie down eyes i think i got from Turner Motorsports.   i used two more of them on the bottom of the subframe for trailer tie down points.

typical scope creep yesterday...

there was a rattle in the drivers door.  pulled door card and seal. ez fix as it was the latch actuator rod.  hmm...while in there i will adjust window fit.  ok, done.  then i looked at the door brake bracket on the A-pillar which has been broken since i  bought the car 10 years ago.   ok...here we go!

pulled door off completely and re-welded the mess previous owners had created with other fixes.  looks like the "put a bolt through the middle" fix had been tried and when that broke, some bad welding was attempted.

a little primer and rattle can red and will be dry for reassembly today.

How much does the door weigh?

Think of the savings without it! 😁

Happy new year!

Mlytle what a nice project...i have my car for 12 years now and my ultimate goal is to have an s14 in it. Finally after this time i manage to get one engine, gearbox and diff. How does your e21 gearbox holds? I’m planning do install the s14 with custom e21 gearbox rally raports to avoid  messing with the body as the m3 e30 gearbox doesnt fit.

7ish pages of fun you have here, congrats!! Keep up the good work

cheers from Portugal!
