New NK owner - where do I get parts

Recommended Posts

I have owned many cool BMW's but I just bought my first NK. It is a soild original 67 tilux that needs restoration.

My questions:

1. Where do I get new parts - suspension is the first area of attention

2. what is the best way to restore the wood trim and wheel?

Thanks and I'm excited to own such a beautiful automobile!

Welcome to the madness! post some pics of the car for the rest of us when you have a chance. As far as parts go, there are alot still available from BMW and from aftermarket suppliers as there are cross reference parts between some models. Just depends on what parts you need. AS far as restorign the wood, there was a thread in the 2002 section about restoring wood shift knobs, and some of the contributors were furniture restorers, so I'd find that thread and contact those people.

Good luck with it!

Hi (name?),

As Martin said, BMW has many parts and if you get a BMWCCA membership, not only do you get a great car magazine and local events to partake in but also a 10% discount on parts at many (most? all?) BMW dealers.

In addition, I have found prices and availability of some parts to be better, even with the Euro exchange at around 1.32-1.35 and with expensive shipping at Walloth and Nesch in Germany: www.wallothnesch.com. You can download their catalog and price list (No VAT) at their website. For used parts or NOS parts keep an active search on Ebay.de and also contact Joachim Gfrerer who runs BTS Autoteile. He can search out NLA used or NOS parts. His email is Info@bts-autoteile.de Remember most Europeans will be on hoiliday for at least 2-3 weeks if not the whole month of August.

Where are you located? There are a couple of parts cars in Washington state that I would like to get my hands on and share with someone. They're going to the crusher soon if not sold..

Luis
