My wife and I willl be attending a wedding next weekend.

Anything going on that weekend?

I see the Monterey madness is the FOLLOWING weekend, so that's out (rats).

Will probably head over to Balboa Park to see what's on display at the museum this year. Last year they featured some great Porsches.

You could make a visit to La Jolla Independent to oggle some of the rides thu have in their window. Last summer I spent 12 glorious days tooling around San Diego in a borrowed 1973 convertible bug, and every time I passsed that place I nearly crashed because I was so intent on seeing what was for sale.

Hi Jim,

I will be tearing down my tii engine this weekend, and would welcome help, armchair advice, or someone telling me what I am doing wrong!

It would be great to see you again and maybe we could get the wifes together this time. If you have time for breakfast or a beer, shoot me an email.

Thanks to everyone for the ideas. Last year, we arrived the afternoon of the SoCal show (October), so I missed that one.

We'll probably go to La Jolla 'cause my wife likes to shop there (and Carl's place is close by).

Mark - thanks for the invite - I will keep in touch. Too bad I can't temporarily shrink a 2002 for the flight back.

Best breakfast in San Diego IMO… Richard Walker Pancake house… Not an event but a guy’s gotta eat… Place is small and the line is long but the crank you thru...

THANKS for the tip on this great pancake place! We walked and ate there this morning. My wife had a bacon belgium waffle, her mom blueberry crepes and I had the "two by four" which is two eggs and 4 pancakes. It was delicious, reasonably priced and we didn't have to wait at 7:30am.

We walked all around Balboa Park and the Zoo yesterday. Visited some museums and of course went into the Auto Museum to see the Datsun/Nissan exhibit. They have some original vehicles like a 510, B210 and a pickup truck, along with a restored Patrol 4WD, (one of) Paul Newman's Z race car's and some very nice 280Z's. I'll post pictures after I return home. Starting in October, the museum will feature California vehicles like woodies and street rods.

Paul Newman scored his first professional victory at a Trans-Am race in 1982 at Brainerd, Minnesota, with his Sharp-prepared Datsun Z-car. I was at the race and talked to him after... Really nice guy... As long as you talked race with him he would talk all day... Need to see if I can find the pictures from that event...
