wow, 1"? Mine went on a little tough as they all seem to, but it was more of getting the bar to fit down into each side. Once I got it in place and it sat for a few months, things worked into place so it comes out & goes back in without a fight now.

I just measured mine: 35 1/2" from one end of the bar to the other.

The bar should have adjustment to allow for that. Look at how the FAQ strut bar works. It allows for the length to be adjusted on both ends. Sometimes simple is better. I think the TEP brace is way to much unless you are working 180+ hp.

I had the same problem with the non-adjustable Ireland bar. The Korman bar worked for me. It has an eccentric on one end for adjustment.

Mine is a bit tight, but not that far off. When I remove/reinstall it I generally loosen the strut top bolts, install the bar and bolts, then tighten the strut top bolts down first and then tighten the bolts that hold on the bar.

My "tabs" sit on top of the firewall at the back, and I felt no need to really drill and bolt those down as many do.

I guess what none of us has said, is that the bar may be right and there may be a problem with your car. Does anyone know what is the proper accurate distance say between the tops of the struts? can they be "flexed" to be an inch off?
