Synchros

While I have the 4 speed out for my motor rebuild, how hard is it to pull the tranny case apart and replace the synchro between 1st and 2nd gears? I am sticking with the 4 speed and long neck diff. Thanks.

Remarkably hard.

Getting the bearings out is a chore,

and getting the case apart likewise.

Last I saw, the later style synchros were

still available, but stuff like gaskets was not.

For what it's worth... This early Porsche style syncro 4 speed transmission on eBay is worth the BuyItNow if it is as represented. In Huntington Beach as well.....
