To tint or not to tint

I am very torn on whether to tint my windows or not. If any of you guys have tinted windows can you post a pic?

Here's our cars with tinted windows. In a hot climate it's the only way to go. Wife's Pastellblau ' 76 is a little darker tint than we wanted, and makes driving at night especially dark, but, she rarely drives hers at night. In my Chamonix it's no problem. (Click on the photo to enlarge).

I don't like dark windows. The photos are of my car with the light, 40% tint by Solar Guard. This is their "premium" material and has been on for nine years, and looks perfect. I have not tinted the window of either of the 2002s.

I too was torn on whether to tint or not. I regret not having done it sooner! I ended up tinting this past May, did the darkest for the back three and a shade lighter for the driver and passenger. The windows in the car let in alot of light and inside the car it does not seem that dark at all. it does take some getting use to looking out the rear view mirror, takes a little more time to get use to looking thru the tint but you get use to it. we went to VatV this summer and my kids had no complaints of the sun beating down on them in the back seat. in the past this was always a gripe, plus they could not see the computer screen to watch movies with all the light blaring in.

If you do tint i would get the darkest you can, i have a mild tint on my truck and van and wished i would have gone darker.

Here is a pic of the tint on my 02, the malaga Lux. Self applied in1987 when I installed the Clardy A/C. At the time stationed at Ft.Rucker Al and it made the difference in comfort and the A/C did not have to work as hard. Retired in Huntsville Al, yesterday the temp was 100 degress 90% humidity heat index 107 degrees tint is worth every dime. I did not get the darkest tint though as you can see. I drove a car with the dark tint and to me it was akin to wearing your sunglasses at night...

Tint! Makes a big differance...Did that back three darker and the front alot lighter. Adds to her personality and does help with the heat.

On a similar subject... i thought it would be best to tint the windows while they are removed from the car and i was recently told that was a BAD idea.

I guess the tint can get scratched or ruined upon the install of the windows?

I too have been on the fence about tinting. I don't want drug dealer black-out, but something to deter thieves or block the sun from eating away my nice seats.

The E46 and Mama's R50 cooper both have tinted windows - worth it, even if it screws with the "self dimming" mirror in the e46.

The 2002, 911 and Mini will get tint, once they get all of their problems sorted.

The Texas sun is too mean for non-tinted windows. At a minimum, it will help preserve your interior.

tinting the non-ac 2002 is on my list of things to do. makes a huge difference in summer. darker is not necessarily better. a lighter tint with uv protection is just as good at keeping the heat out and protecting the interior without the drug dealer look or impaired night vision. my m3 has a light tint with uv protection that i put on when the car was new in miami in 97.

Idk if thats sarcasm or not but that was at the Brisbane 02 show this year. They had a whole hydraulic system in it and they had done the paint at there shop, Idk about the tint. It was a couple guys that owned some sort of car shop around here if i remember correctly.

not sacrasm. i think that car is very stealth looking. i'd love to see more photos... but the smoked tail lenses, the cadillac black paint, tinted windows... i wouldn't do it to my car but for somebody elses', i think it is great.

the 02 looks dangerous!
