Hi all,

I wanted make a general posting about a few 2002 related irons in the fire for me: Beer and Bimmers, the reproduction of 2002tii kugelfischer factory tools from originals, and lastly the selling of my extensive stash of parts... well ,besides my personal spares;) Beer and Bimmers got too big so the other topics will be on another post.

Beer and Bimmers. No there will not be drinking and then driving;) It is in my head as an end of year get-together for folks in the midwest. Last year we got some people together in Mineral Point, but I feel New Glarus is the better location...

It has a base hotel available, has good dining and drinks, shopping, and of course the world renowned New Glarus Brewing Company. Oh, it also has access to some of the most scenic roads in the Midwest.

A proposed itinerary is below, but my question for everyone is to find out if there is enough interest to set this up correctly, and have a really strong final weekend with our cars, and have some good times with fellow '02ers. I suppose we could also bring wives and girlfriends and spend time with them too;)

Date: Oct 1-3

Proposed Itinerary.

Friday, Oct 1

7:00 PM to ??? - Meet and greet at the Chalet Landhaus, probably in the conference room. Bring your own beverage.

Saturday, Oct 2

8:00 AM to 10:00 AM - Breakfast at the hotel.

10:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Option 1 - Drive to Mineral Point for lunch. (This may also be a cold weather/rain option, although I’m not sure if everyone would want to drive their cars in the rain.) There are a few restaurants in the downtown area available. If you want to continue the bier theme we could go the brewpub.

Option 2 - Go to the park in New Glarus and have a cookout.

1:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Option 1 – Brewery tour and tasting.

Option 2 – Shopping in New Glarus. If wine is your thing, the Primrose winery is right in downtown New Glarus. They also have a nice selection of European import shops, antiques, ect. There is also many places to have a pint in one of the local establishments…

Option 3 – Stay at the park or hotel and talk cars.

4:00 PM to 6:00PM

I think there are a few options here. We could all meet at the hotel or park, and trade war stories, talk cars, ect. I also liked the tech session from last year, so this might be a good time for schedule one.

6:00 PM to ???

I was thinking a group dinner at hotel or possibly the New Glarus Hotel Restaurant. Afterwards we could go our separate ways for the night or have a few drinks downtown. It is a few blocks walk from the hotel.

Sunday, October 3

Breakfast at the hotel, goodbyes for the weekend.

Let me know what you think. I'll coordinate, but I've been advised that I should not try to micromanage the event. I was thinking I could be the overall coordinator unless someone else would like to step up. We will also need the following positions filled:

1. Event coordinator- works with the hotel, restaurant(s), ect to make sure things are lined up correctly.

2. Drive coordinator - Picks the route for the drive (s)? Leads the pack...

3. Attendance chief - Tracks how many people are coming... also gets some butts in the seats, so to speak. Will handle any or all advertising, and will have first contact with potential attendees.

4. Swap guru?

5. Tech guru?

6. Maintenance demo team?

Or we could just all show up in New Glarus that weekend and wing it. In any case, here is the deal. Julie and I are going to New Glarus October 1 through 3 and it would be nice if I could take some friends... some older, some newer, and hang out with some real world '02ers. Two people are already going... do I hear 3?

Let me know what you think. Thanks for reading if you made it this far.

I'm in unless fate stops me.

A timely post as I can see a sampler pack of new glarus beer as I sit here, and yesterday I pulled out a primrose wedding wine I bought at the tasting room ten years ago TODAY! on my honeymoon.

I was prevented from attending last year, and have regretted that.

Amen on the best roads, I took the tii to the hillclimb in may, there were 4 02s there, I'll try and find the pics link.
