tranny/engine mount replacement

sonoma

Recommended Posts

never done these before, so can someone tell me what the proper order to replace these is, do the tranny one first, then the engine?

should i keep the tranny mount unbolted when i do the engine mounts? does it need to be loose to allow the engine to tip up?

also i was planning on hook on to the engine lift eye (above alt) only to lift the engine slightly to allow the mount replacement. Does anyone know how much it needs to be lifted?

Torque specs: does anyone know the torques for both mounts?

thx

you can do the mounts in any order. I just pry the engine with a big screwdriver or 2x4, slip the old mount out and the new one in, and tighten. Watch your fingers don't get caught! But it's really pretty easy. The passenger side motor mount takes a little lining up to get it right.

If your raise the engine for access to the engine mounts, be careful of the transmission mount--I once broke a tranny mount when changing the right side engine mount (it was old anyway). So my advice is loosen up the tranny mount and do it last.--jp

yes, loosen the tranny mount a bit before lifting engine. and be careful lifting the engine. watch out for the fan blade (if you still have stock fan) hitting the radiator, stretching either of the radiator hoses too far or the dizzy hitting the firewall.
