Anybody in California visiting Europe anytime soon?

Looking for a favour - there's a pair of delorto 48's (that are getting increasingly hard to find) I'd like to buy in Irvine but shipping to France is coming up as 200 bucks, which is pretty severe.

If anyone's coming to London/South East England, or the South of France, then are you willing to stick them in your luggage for a fistful of dollars?

Here's hoping

Nick

BTW they weigh about 15lbs, just ask the wife to go easy on her packing ;-)

Nick,

I'll be traveling from Washington, DC (east coast) to Lisboa, München, Augsburg, and possibly Amsterdam in August. If you can find someone who's traveling from California to DC before August 13th I could get the carbs to Europe, then mail them to you from there. Not so sure that would save you any money or hassle, but it's worth a shot.

kind offer - I'd obviously have to come and spend a weekend in the Dam just to pick them up ;-)

Hopefully the 70 bucks is a goer..

Hello Nick,

I ship motorcycle parts to France all the time. USPS Intl Priority mail is the best value but the limit is insurable value cannot exceed $650.00 USD.

A 17lb (carbs plus box/packaging) comes up to be about $90 USD using the www.usps.com website to calculate the rate if you insure them for $650.

Wish I was headed to France or England myself but can't afford it this year.

Cheers,

really - guy quoted UPS as 200 bucks and I checked with fed ex and got the same price.

UPS = United Parcel Service (Private Shipping Company)

USPS = United States Postal Service (US Gov't Mail Service)

UPS is going to be more expensive than USPS.

just make sure the carbs have absolutely zero gas. We have a dealer in Hollister that shipped a used fuel pump, without draining it completely. They had to stop the plane in the middle of the tarmac, and unload the leaking pump. Now the dealer is facing fines bigger than BP!

South of France sounds good to me, anytime of the year...

Good advice Michael - pop over with them and I'll open a bottle of wine. Just finishing my garage so I now have space to fix/keep my toys.

Gee, Nick, 90 USD is only about 15 Euros, ain't it? (Just kidding).

We were in Collioure last summer and I'd sure like to return to the south of France, but wife's a school teacher, so we have to wait til next summer. If not for that I'd love to wrap your carbs in towels, put them in the bottom of my carry-on backpack and have fun going thru airport x-ray machines.
