Megasquirters: Need tach help!

did the mod with the diodes and resistor to get the tach working. Tach lasted for a couple of months then two weeks ago it was bouncing around a lot then just died! Swapped it out with a spare I had and it lasted all of a couple of weeks and it just died! What's going on? Am I frying something in the tach? Any way to fix it?

Hmmm. I did the same mod and it has worked fine for about 3 months now. My friend did his about 8 months ago and no issues.

The only difference is we added a resistor across one of the diodes like Tim suggested:

yup, did that mod, i think it was a 100k resistor or something like that?

You are running EDIS?

I would double check the resistor value. Make sure it is 100K or may be higher.

yup, running EDIS and made sure the diodes were facing the right way. I thinking something popped on the tacho but have no idea what to look for.

Before it went kaplooey did your tach work over the entire rev range or did it cut out at high rpms?

worked over the entire rev range, not that I bouce it above 4k that often.
