engine and drivetrain Yet another transmission question

So after getting a good look under my car today, it appears the transmission is sloping downwards (which isn't good for the guibo). However the shift tower is already rubbing against the transmission tunnel. What are my options?

I already have a new 5 speed on the way so hopefully I'll be able to share more once we get the old one out.

Well, the crank nose IS higher than the diff nose, so there should be

some angle....

If you have the early style tower, there's adjustment in the back rod- more than you might think.

The late style tower should just float with the body...

What do you mean by "float with the body?" My tower has a bolt right behind the shifter (half an inch maybe) in the tunnel.
