What to expect for $10.000-$15.000

I see alot of Sellers in the cars for sale section of FAQ $10.500 and $15.000 range shouldnt i expect a perfect round tail light tii with not a spec of rust anywhere on it for that kind of change. I know over a period of time its real easy to invest tons of money in performance mods into a 2002 but does that automatically mean that what you invested in it is what you can ask for as a selling price? I have $9.000 in my 2002 and i think most people would laugh if asked $5.000 for it.

IMHO, Rover, the operative word here is ASKING price. I have'nt been to ebay lately, and took a ride thru last night, and had the same thought as you....Seems anything that rolls without leaving a snail trail is "worth" 10K. Does it mean that my freshly restored 02 is worth 17.9K...? Only to me, probably...I guess the only way to justify some of the crazy prices, is to look at what you can buy new for 15.5K....not much. IMHO for 10-15k it shold be a nice car, no rust at all, some patina but overall say a 7 or 8 out of 10

I think that $10-15K should get you a near perfect carbureted Roundie or a lightly "seasoned" tii (roundie or squarie). The economy isn't that great yet.
