Re-upholstering & Re-stuffing seats (LA Area)

Recommended Posts

Anybody know the best place/person to do this? I have a tabacco brown interior now, and I plan to buy some used seats from a parted-out 02, have them re-covered (with something as close as possible to original) and re-stuffed with some nice new foam.

Also would love to see some examples of reupholstered seats!

Perez upholstery on Fair Oaks in Pasadena has done many '02s. He Restuffed the seats on my 74 tii (that I no longer own) a few years ago, and recently did my Bavaria. Very good price. He's been in business forever. He redid the seats in my 68 VW Westphalia about 30 years ago.

I think it was $250 to restuff my Bavaria seats. That included replacing some of the piping on the front seats. I removed the seats and brought them to him in my SUV. I have no idea what it costs to make new covers.

You can also check with Dave Varco (AArdvark Racing). He redid my recaros in my '70 2002, and reupholstered the rear seat to match. Really first-class, top-notch work, but not cheap. Reasonably priced for what you're getting however. You could pay a lot more for work of this quality.

Thanks. I called Perez in Pasadena and he says it'd be about $600 to restuff and reupholster some 2002 seats. I'm trying to figure out if this is worth it. How much are stock seats in great condition going for?

Perez reupholstered the E21 Recarro seats that I scored out of a 320i S car that I found in a Sun Valley pik-a-part yard. The seats look awesome in my tii, I had them done in tan to match my interior. I can't remember what it cost but that was about six years ago and I've killed too many brains cells since then.

If you do find a very good tobacco vinyl match - please post the brand and model of vinyl. I think many of us with tobacco would like to know for future use. Good luck with your seats.
