#2 not firing on idle

last valve adjustment ? Check for vacuum leak ? Idle too low ? last fuel filter change ? Little things add up . I know it's just one cylinder but like I said, it's the little things that count. Don't jump to expensive things without checking the little stuff. If you have to dremmel your cap and rotor it's time for new.

If it is truly not firing on number 2 and you have replaced the wire then it will most likely be in the rotor or dist cap. If all the others fire properly then track it back from the plug, then wire, then rotor, then cap.

If you have fire on #2 then check valve adjustment.

ok, will check valves. I definitely have fire on #2.

Just remember if it is fuel related you would have an issue on all cylinders if you are running a single carb. If you run duals then it couldbe a carb.

Since you have isloated the issue to cylinder 2 I doubt it is fuel related. It should be cylinder related such as valves etc. Check it out and let us know

To potentially close this thread out - I did a valve adjustment today at .009 cold and much to my surprise it seemed to work! #2 came to life and when I pulled the plug wire it definitely went back to rough running. the car is now in a very smooth idle, so much so, I could lower the idle adjustment quite a bit....all this because of what? an overtightened valve? none of them seemed to be loose....hard to believe...I'm hoping that it sticks....
