What's it worth...real time help please

Going to see (2nd trip) a 75 automatic, all stock, ac, good tires, only visible rust is on front air dam (valance), sunroof, reactor removed, BMW turbins, interior in good shape (just dirty/smelly). 1 owner for last 10 years and stored during winters. Paint is 6-7 out of 10 with no dents but does have some scratches and few chips. All glass very good. Goal is to have a semi-daily driver (couple days a week). 1st trip could not test drive because battery was dead and had a flat. I have doubts about the ac being op as it was covered in oil. Going back in a couple hours. Any help with what it's worth is truly appreciated.[/u]

If the engine runs okay and it shifts smoothly (I've never owned an automatic)... If you jack up the car and the frame rails are not rusted... If the front seats are soft, the dash is good, and the beltline trim is decent...

If all of that is decent-to-good... I'd say it's in the $1000-$1200 range.

Any medium-to-major work needed on engine, tranny, or rust repair and you should knock it down to the $250-$400 range.

If it runs and drives great and it's just a matter of crappy trim, or needing to get the seats re-stuffed before you can drive it, I'd call it the $400-$700 range.

All just WAGs on my part though. I'd have to see it. It's kind of a 'feel' thing. ;-)

Good luck!

Oh, also it would depend on what color it is. If it's a valuable color (or one I happen to love) that could bump up the price as well.

Cheers,

Adam

I did slide under on the trip 1 and the frame rails are bone dry, not even surface rust. Same goes for the truck area (shock towers/spare tire well/etc). Seats will be replaced with Recaros. Color is Malaga.

I agree with the 1200ish range. Depends on how many miles are on it. You don't want to pay say 2000 for he car then sink another 3000 in it so you have 5k invested in a 3k car.

I'm not as dumb as I look

hmm, if it's rusting through, there is more rust elsewhere.

However, given your market, there isn't a lot of supply-

I'd decide how much I liked the car, and pick my figure accordingly.

If it seems like me, it's worth a lot more than something I don't

feel comfortable in.

I actually think $2k if it runs and drives well is a decent deal-

you see cars for less, but they're usually projects, a pos, or both...

no photos - but from yer description and 'present'

unloved condition $1000 takes it to a better home - we hope.

so the Automatic has oil in it !

I bet the brakes suck and the suspension and steering are fagged

tires have a little cracking?

seats not friendly to yer body under parts?

is it a color you love ?
