coil wiring

Tried to fire up my 76 to no avail. Got an ancient Compu Sensor hot spark ignition module that crapped out, so took those wires off and wired the three wire bundle (white/clear resisitor, black and green) to the + and the two blacks to the -. Nothing. Seems to bump the relay on the far fender so it is acting like a short. Clymers is of no help. Any suggestions. Also got a new blue coil just in case.

Sounds like u have one or two xtra wires. Check the juice on ur resistor wire, it may have been disconected from power with the hotspark mod. One of the other wires on the positive side of the coil should come from the starter. Also, don't use a blue coil with a resistor in the feed, that's double resistance.
