Very Sloppy stickshift

PeterCS

Recommended Posts

My stick shift is very loose - there is excessive "side-to-side" play and the throw is very long.

I was told that the two 45 degree link supports may be broken, the shift linkage is worn and I likely need new rubber mounts.

I don't see any of these items in the attached schematic!?!

Can I repair this issue without removing the transmission?

Can anyone help me here and help me identify the likely problems and the parts needed and how to do.

Many thanks,

PeterCS

thanks (for saving me digging out the diagram

for the umpteen time this week)

and

YES - trans stays put

droping the front exhaust/header joint might

give your hands more room - as well as disconnecting the driveshaft

and droping the center d-shaft bearing.

all related jobs to any shifter rebuild anyway.

Order ALL yer parts - go diving under once -

do all if it at one time - enjoy DRIVING trouble free

long time.

stay kool
