trans still chirping

Recommended Posts

I got the 5 speed reinstalled for the 2nd time. the flywheel was resurfaced and a new pilot bearing was installed to try and remedy the chirping noise. The chirping is still happening upon bliping the throttle and the rpms slowing down. If it is a gradule increase and decrease in speed there is no noise....any other suggestions on what to trace this down to?

If this is happening during idle, cracked exhaust manifold perhaps.

Other than the chirping, is the shifting through the gears ok? maybe it is not the trani.

Have you raised the back wheels and put in gear? do you hear it then? or does it need to have the load on it?

i am just throwing things out there because i am sure you have gone through everything.

When you had it out the second time did you see any signs of where the chirping may be coming from,

also is it chirping when clutch is depressed and released? coasting in neutral?

maybe a cracked pressure plate, long shot and you would have to remove trani again to look it over good.

Tough Issue, hope you find something.

No exhaust heat shield. I have headers, and no cracks in them. New header bolts and copper nuts.

I need to bleed the system and get it on the road and make actual notes of when it makes these noises. I will update the forum shortly. Thanks for the suggestions thus far.

This is probably nuts, but on low-humidity days like we have been having in Nashville lately, both my '02 and my E30 M3 chirp from the fan belt upon quick blips of throttle, especially within the first minute or so after startt-up.

Worth a shot, and we're in the same neighborhood. You know Will moved, right? He's where the Hermitage Lighting commercial sales office was.

I should be around all day tomorrow, except around lunch - 12:30-1:30 or so.
