Some time ago a friend sent me the link to this. Really amazing. At the end of the photo sequence it appears to go back to maybe Saudi Arabia (???). So if you think your 02 is in bad shape with rust or other damage, it can be saved. Amazing work here - not sure I have ever seen the likes of. Be careful if you have dial up. Have a great weekend.

That's pretty impressive.

Only one problem. Someone should tell those guys that car is a butt-ugly Toyota!

;-) Kidding. Kind of.

I don't care for the Celica itself (a friend had the same type of car in college, complete with the "cat eye" rear tailights), but the craftsmanship by the company was amazing. All of the details that went into that 1987 rallye car are astonishing.

Details like the twin radiators with fiberglass shrouds, massive dashboard restoration with rebuilt gauges, toggle switches and connectors, polished S/S reservoir tanks, suspension work AND all the extensive bodywork.

I wonder how much the original driver from Dubai spent on the restoration??

The pictures certainly tell the story behind this restoration "blog".

THANK YOU for posting this link. I viewed every single picture.

Not a huge Toyota Celica fan myself, however I was really stunned by the amount of work that went into restoring the car. It looked to me like about 3/8" thick bondo off the roof. All of the paint and bondo hiding alot of damage resulting from its use - you would expect alot of that from a factory works car I think. When my Grp. 2 car was stripped to the bare metal, I was told that somewhere in the neighborhood of 50lbs (Est.) of paint came off the car as it had been painted and painted (and painted and painted) AND PAINTED. It was a race car and back in those days they probably did a little body work for damage and then just painted over whatever was there (and again and again and again). The metal work on that car is really just amazing.
