Clunk from rear while turning right....ideas?

My car has developed a clunk or thud when making a right turn. It seems to be coming from the rear suspension...I have checked the shock mounts in the trunk...nice and tight. Its just one thunk when making a right turn. only does it at higher speeds.

I'm guessing the upper shock mount is the main culprit. Maybe have a friend ride in the back seat to listen while you drive.

Or maybe the exhaust is banging on the subframe.

Don't laugh, but is your jack secured in the left-side fenderwell? Do you have loose tools in the spare tire well?

Years ago, I remember trying to figure out a clunk coming from the rear of a VW Rabbit. All of us at the shop would take turns driving the car, then putting it up on a lift to see what the heck was going on. It turned out to be the scissors jack was banging on the spare tire rim. The rubber straps VW supplied to hold the jack to the bottom of the rim wasn't properly in place. Since the jack was on the underside of the rim, you couldn't tell at first glance.

Ditto. I had a clunk on hard turn-in and engine breaking. Turned out to be bad subframe mounts. They were torn, but could tell until I was dropping the subframe off the car to replace them.
