What is this part and where does it go

Recommended Posts

It mounts in the trans tunnel and holds the back of the shift platform up. It is originally from an e21 and in my personal experience this setup works much better then the 2002 setup. This pic should help...

I see how it attaches to the platform on the rubber grommet on bottom then on top but how does this help? Does this have a diagolan platform brace? or does this piece I pictured somehow attach the the trans tunnel?

Look at RealOEM for the 320 trans shifter platform, it's the same thing only aftermarket. You will see that it attaches to the tunnel. The 320 has a stud, you will have to drill a hole and use a bolt.

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.

The parts in question are parts 5 and 6. I see in the picture how they mount to the platform. But what use is this part. If it somehow is used as a mounting point for a platform brace then does anyone have a pic of this?

Not exact piece, this one is a home made piece. The trans seller didn't include the factory part. Rubber mount was with it though.
