We have a MayDay drive!
BayArea 02, in honor of our usual Swap & Show date, is planning a drive starting at the Brisbane Marina (500 Sierra Point Parkway, Brisbane 94005). While we are planning Swap & Show-21 this Fall, a low-key drive respecting Pandemic protocol will give our cars some fun.
We are finalizing a route, probably West to California Route-1 then South to Half Moon Bay. While only about 27 miles, this route provides world-renowned costal views. It will give our cars a good opportunity to get some fresh air!
We are not planning a lunch but there are ample opportunities for restaurants and takeout in Half Moon Bay.
Important Pandemic note:
• All of us must maintain proper social distance and wear a mask when outside our cars and during any social interludes along the way. No way do we want any of us getting ill from a drive!

I drove our planned route this morning (10 April), verifying it worked OK and that Saturday morning traffic would work (unless the predicted temperature for 1 May turns it into a Beach Day for many in the Bay Area). The route seemed pleasant but not too long and traffic, although occasionally heavy in Daly City and collecting at a few long signals, never bogged down to stop & go. The only rotten traffic I found was Westbound on SR-92 (not our route or direction) and going home through San Francisco on US-101 and I-80.
Please note that we will meet in the North parking area at the Brisbane (California...) Marina, the same area we typically have swappers at Swap & Show (at the end of Sierra Point Parkway, turn left to proceed to the last parking area). We're planning to leave at 10:00 AM (or maybe 5 minutes later, if we gab too long). The route ends in Half Moon Bay and while we are not planning a lunch, there are plenty of eateries in the Main St. area where we will end our drive.
And remember, be courteous to your friends and follow proper social distance and mask recommendations!
