Fitting

Going to have to do a wee bit of cutting.  The shift tower needs to protrude up through the tunnel about an inch and the shift location is about 1.5" further aft than the BMW one.  I actually kind of like that since I've always thought the original location was a little too far forward.  Other than that the transmission seems to fit the tunnel rather easily.

I'll remove the cool ring that the shift boot attaches to so hopefully I can reuse it.

This is awesome. I've been wanting to put one of these engines in my E30 for a long time. Looking forward to seeing this completed.

Got the engine in place and welded up some mounts.  Its leaning about 5° toward the passenger side.  This was for clearance for the slave cylinder to tie rod.

BMW could not have put that damn steering box in a worse place for engine swaps!  Because of that the engine mount on that side had to be round tube instead of square and at a weird angle.  Not a big deal, but I also now have to remote mount the oil filter.  Next time I'm going to convert to rack and pinion.  I measured everything out and I'm pretty sure I can use an MGB rack.

Anyway a couple pics.  Next is the dreaded oil pan, yuck!
