Day 1: Removing the Fluid

I should have mentioned this earlier, I am not a "car guy". So this is going to truly going to be a challenge.

Today we were able to move the car into our garage, with the help of my sisters boyfriend. Since we still don't have the key, because we still need to order a key online http://www.bmwmobiletradition-online.com/bmw/ , we had to push the car as far up our driveway as possible. There we used a steel jack to load the front tires onto a dolly so that we would be able to steer the car in the right direction.

Since there were only three of us, we had to call in the recruits, a.k.a my mom and sister. It had become a family affair.

After some time we finally were able to position the car in the garage, we then placed the jacks underneath the body frame of the car. I was so excited to work underneath the car, that I wasted no time getting under. While underneath the car my dad helped me drain the old gas and oil.

Since the gas had been in the car for 12 years it had gained quite the stench. After draining all the fluid my Dad and I finished the day by cleaning our "shop".

As he says, "A messy shop leads to a messy mind."

I see you have a sun roof. Check the drains , they run down behind the rear seat side panel. This can lead to rust in the lower chassis. Learn to weld with a MIG welder it's a skill and fun.

Thanks for the input. I will be sure to check that asap. Do you know where I would be able to learn how to weld if the problem arises?
