Spent all day outside working on the car. In my last post I mentioned the deliberate flaws in my paint job, so today I took a few photos to give y’all a closer look. Definitely not for everyone, but I’m having fun experimenting with different techniques.

Below: Hand painted logo/livery. The “Slang” logo is a tribute to a good friend who passed away in 2020. Slang was his design studio’s name.

Below: I actually used a grey epoxy primer, but I wanted to give it a weathered look with red oxide primer burning through . So I sprayed red primer in a couple areas and then lightly shot the single stage paint over it, then cut and buffed the paint.   I was going to hand paint the meatball but went with a matte white vinyl sticker instead  IMG_6054.thumb.jpeg.6ea0dff8f773df02ea426df85de06f4c.jpeg

Below: More of the same technique.

Below: hand painted Alpina logo and more burn through in the paint.

Nice hand painted Slang Studio in weathered look.

Meatballs ca 66/67 should be 20” diameter. OK to have then straight across at the bottom of the door. On a white car there could be a black hand painted outline of the circle.

Personally would like it even better with an all matte black front lid rather than the stripes following the indents on the panel.

Great job. Love it!image.jpeg.c2047559c92fd66b2e6e032bdfef2f86.jpeg

Note Interesting tail panel with contrasting color below molding.

Thanks @Flunder!

I did contemplate painting the whole hood black, but since I did that with my last 1600, I decided to try something new. I still think about it though! 🤣

I still want to hand paint the meatball. I think I’ll do as you suggest with the black outline. I’ll have to look for more references.

Jason
