History of 1529238 as I know it.

First things first. The basics from BMW Group.

The BMW 1602 VIN 1529238 was manufactured on June 19th, 1967 and delivered on June 29th, 1967 to the BMW importer Hoffman Motors Corp. in New York City. The original colour was Polaris metallic, paint code 060.

About a year and a half of being under my ownership (4th owner) I was checking out the FB 02 group page, and noticed a post inquiring about the owner of 1529238.

I thought to myself, “That VIN sounds familiar.” I ran to my garage and sure enough that was my 1600-2

I quickly replied to the post, and it turns out he was the cars second owner and he had a bunch of paperwork to go with the car and some backstory and photos of how he bought it.

Email from 2nd owner.

Stack of paperwork, service records, and road maps courtesy of 2nd owner. Cool base decal from the DMV (DC, MD, VA) area.

Photos from 2nd owner. Unfortunately I do not own the Borranis. 3rd owner added them to his A4S.

I would love to have gotten this tachometer in the sale.

Despite not getting any of the Alpina parts in the sale. I did get a lot of cool pieces not necessarily worth anything.

Original 30 day tags, factory folding key, 10 slat grille.

Original 67 spare wheel with Michelin MX L.  Also have four date stamped ‘67 steelies.

That is about it for now. Next post I’ll dive into my plans for the car and some of the pieces I’ve gathered.
