Tremendous Progress

Delivered nicer vent window frames I bought on ebay, painted roundel and gauge cluster chrome ring set from Poland.

Tremendous progress! Doors, headlights, firewall insulation, turn signals, quarter windows, both bumpers, 3rd brake light, hood and sunroof panel are all sanded and buffed. Engine was scheduled to be installed today, injectors were removed and sent out to be re-tested. There's another Tii there and at start up blew 2 injection lines! So as a precaution mine were sent out too. I took a lot of pictures.

Wow!  Looking like a brand new car.  Your headliner looks so much better than my DIY one in the 69.

Beautiful.  What is the gray firewall insulation you're using?  Blunt is working on getting a replacement but last time I asked it wasn't ready.

Two things.  First, in image 5, it looks like your flintstone motor is stuck in reverse. Either that or you have Reed Richards (the rubber guy from Fantastic Four) somehow stretching from the engine bay into the back of the car.  Imagine how useful it would be to never have to get out from under the car to reach the one box wrench you didn't bring under there with you.   ....OK, that was dumb, but maybe worth a chuckle.

Serious question.  It looks like you painted many of the aluminum parts on the engine including the valve cover and intake manifold.  Any special prep to that?  What kind of paint was used?

Oh, and I've been eying those firewall pads since Ace Andrew published the link.  After seeing yours, I bought one.

Thanks!

Plastic media blasting and a satin clear. Pretty simple.
